Camera storage and accessory company Tamrac recently announced the MicroSync Digital, a small wireless strobe sync system. The device fires from the hotshoe of most digital and film cameras and has a battery life of three years, according to the company website.The MicroSync Digital has no on/off switch. It turns itself on and off when the photographer presses the shutter release button. The device operates on four channels, which prevents it from interfering with nearby users.
The MicroSync Digital can be used to remotely fire most SLR cameras with the purchase of an accessory cable. It will also work with most strobe systems. It has a maximum range of 100 feet and a maximum sync speed of 1/180 sec. in the focal plane and 1/350 sec. in leaf shutter.
The transmitter weighs .5 ounces with battery, and measures 1.06” x 2” x .43”. The receiver weights 3.5 ounces and measures 1.37” x 4.37” x .86”. Retail price is around $199. For further information, visit the company website.
