2007 Digital Imaging Survey Shows Digicam Buying Stats

The 2007 PMA U.S. Digital Imaging Survey showed that the number of households buying digital cameras to replace older models has doubled in three years. In 2006, 18.2 percent of users replaced their cameras compared to 9.1 percent in 2003.

The survey also showed that 34.7 percent of households purchased a new digital camera to add to their camera collection, down 16.8 points since 2003.

19.7 percent of households purchased cameras for the first time and 27.4 percent of households replaced a film camera.

I guess I'm in the 18.2 percent since I'm currently in the market to replace my older 3.2MP Canon A75 digital point-and-shoot. The waterproof 7MP Pentax Optio W30 is in my sights...
