Adobe Announces Free Web-Based Photoshop Services

If you have a computer, internet connection and image files to edit; you will soon be able to correct and edit those files for free directly on the web using basic features within Adobe Photoshop.

In a recent interview with CNET News.com, Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen announced that the company will release a free, web-based version of Photoshop sometime within the next three to six months. This new service will be a stipped down version of Photoshop. In fact, it is supposed to have fewer features than the company's economical Photoshop Elements software. That is really no surprise since it is going to be a free service.

As stated in the interview, the hosted Photoshop service is "part of a larger move to introduce ad-supported online services to complement [Adobe's] existing products and broaden the company reach into the consumer market."

Adobe Remix, a web-based video-editing tool through the Photobucket web site, is already provided by Adobe. Chizen also states in the interview that Adobe plans to use the Web to introduce new features to desktop software such as Photoshop Lightroom. These ventures into web-based services by Adobe will be interesting to watch as they develop, and are utilized by photographers worldwide.
