Microsoft Replaces iView MediaPro With Expression

Microsoft will replace its current iView MediaPro Image management and cataloging application with its new Expression Media program. The Expression Media Encoder is about the only difference between the two applications in regard to functionality, and is only available in the Windows version. It allows video to be batch encoded into numerous formats. A Corbis plug-in has also been added, this allows the direct submission of images from Expression Media to the Corbis stock photography agency.

Expect to pick up Microsoft’s Expression Media alone later this month for about $299, or purchase the Expression Studio Suite for $599, which includes Expression Media. A 60-day free trial is also available. Owners of MediaPro 3.0 or above can upgrade to the new application for free until August 1st, 2007. Upgrades for $99 can be purchased for customers who currently own a version older than 3.0.

Get more information directly from the Microsoft Expression website. If you’d like to check out the Corbis submission plug-in, it is currently available as a free download from the Microsoft iView website, which will remain available for customer support until around the end of the year.
